awesome!!!!!! I've been a Terminator comic fan since Alex Ross' Burning Earth mini series from Now Comics. Dynamite is a great home for the Terminator license.
But why call it "Terminator 2?" Why not just "The Terminator?"

It seems like ever since T2 came out anything using the T-1000 (Robert Patrick) model carries the T2 name. Anything that just says "The Terminator" only has the T-800 (Schwarzenegger) model. I could be wrong, but that's what it always seemed like to me.

This title could very well interest me, but it will depend on the creative team and what type of stories they are telling. Like with nearly anything else in comics.
I hope this initial announcement is more quickly followed up with actual product than in some previous cases. (Not that I'd want them to rush out some sub-standard stuff just for the sake of it though.)

I honestly don't know. From my perspective, dividing a comic series into T1/T2 seems an artificial distinction (unless it was a movie-to-print adaptation) in what is generally the same ballpark in people's minds. I don't see why a single series under the "Terminator" label couldn't deal with both... :confused:

The Horn'd One

(Hi, I'm the latest new guy here, The Horn'd One. I'll post an intro thread shortly.)
The reason for the T2 title is simple; storyline continuity.
Waaaaaaay back when Star Wars-Episode IV first came out, Alan Dean Foster got the go-ahead from George Lucas to write the novel Splinter Of The Mind's Eye, one of the first Star Wars-linked stories taking place after Episode IV. It was an interesting read, & since (at the time) Star Wars continuity wasn't enforced, it was left alone.
Until, years later, when the concept of the 'in-between' story, Shadows of the Empire was approved. Not long after, many fans pointed out that Splinter really didn't fit in with established continuity (Luke didn't meet Vader face-to-face until much, much, MUCH later in the entire storyline). Lucas contacted Foster & produced a more in-continuity edition. Little to no fuss came from it, because it was well written.
Now, going back to the Terminator properties;
After NOW Comics did their run (there was really only one memorable issue, the one introducing the Dog-form Terminator variant), & Malibu Comics did a couple limited series (picking up right after T2), Dark Horse snapped up the licence & produced several well-written limited series that took place shortly after the first movie & fit within that continuity. After T2 was released on DVD, more novels & comics (the Malibu Comics LS) were produced to fit into THAT storyline.
Now, despite the semi-neutral response to T3, most fans still see T2 as the highlight of the series. Where better to pick up from?

I would estimate this as being at least several months away. With all the new titles on the scene recently, this one could very well be slated for '08.

GAH! My bad - serves me right for fielding questions while in caffeine-withdrawal... :rolleyes:
If it's solicited for June, then expect it soon-ish. ;)

Hey Tommy. I noticed that Diamond is showing Terminator2 #1 out next week (July 18th). Will this comic get it's own forum? Just wondering. Thanks!

At this stage, I'd say so, yes. Each new title has generally had its own forum area set up at the point of, or shortly prior to, its general release. ;)
