BRANDON JERWA TALKS BSG: ZAREK
In November, Dynamite Entertainment adds to the richness of the Battlestar Galactica universe by exploring the past of Tom Zarek, the freedom fighter/terrorist/dissident/reformer in Battlestar Galactica: Tom Zarek – The Revolution Within.
The four issue miniseries takes the clock of the character (played by original Galactica alum Richard Hatch) and turns it backward, looking at his childhood and life, first as a survivor of the First Cylon War, and later, as slave of a different stripe on the Sagittaron Colony. The miniseries is written by Brandon (GI Joe, Highlander) Jerwa, with art by Adriano Batista and covers by Stjepan Sejic. We sat down with Jerwa to get his thoughts on the character and story.
Newsarama: To start with Brandon, when did you first meet up with Battlestar Galactica - classic or Sci Fi?
Brandon Jerwa: I watched the original series religiously when I was a kid – and even had some of the action figures - but it was a distant second to Star Wars in my eyes. When I heard about the new show, I was definitely intrigued, so I sat down to watch the mini-series when it first aired. I can’t tell you how absolutely overwhelmed I was by the quality of the show. It literally grabbed me in a way that no TV show ever had before. http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=84137 (http://http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=84137) http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=84137 (http://)
