Red Sonja, Army of Darkness, Darkman, Re-animator, Highlander even Xena!
So good TV shows/movies from back when it there was good stuff on TV/Theatres :D
What is coming next from DE? Other Titles that are in the works for a DE comic adaptation?
What other TV/Movie you'd like to see in a DE line-up? Personally, I'd wish there was a CRITTERS (http://www.itsonlyamovie.co.uk/COVERS1/CRITTERS%20UK.jpg) comic (or even new movie lol). How about a Back to the future comic? LOL :D Bladerunner could be great! The Dark Crystal! hehe Max Max?

I'd like to at least see a Herculean cameo in Xena, heh. He had the greatest pants ever!
How about a Highlander/Sonja crossover? Sonja thinks McCleoud is an interdimentional demon and tries to slay him, it could happen! (maybe? heh...)

Personally, I would like to see a PLANET OF THE APES comic by DE. Not the recent film, but the original movie series back in the 1970's. Another comic I would like to see is BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY (The late 70's-early 80's show). In fact, I would mind seeing a KNIGHT RIDER or SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN comic, also. (I know I'm showing my age with my opinions).

Heh, Knight Rider...

Since one of the creators of the reimagined Battlestar galactica Tv show is set on trying to bring a reimagined Bionic Woman Tv show, it would be cool to have both versions of the Bionic Woman (don't forget SMDM) if possible...
The question about the "classic" Bionic Woman/Six Million Dollar Man comic is would it include a "rejuiced?!?" Barney Miller and the new bionic people from the 2 reunion tv movies (Michael Austin and new bionic system Kate Mason, played by Sandra Bullock Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm)?

Kung FU, MacGuyver, and if they could get the rights 007. They could adapt the novels and short stories tweaking them with a bit of the movie stuff like Q branch. I'd like to see the Prisoner, ISpy, or Man from UNCLE but barring tv/mpvie stuff I'd love to see DE adapt Midnight Son for younger readers. Also a serious Wild Wild West would be great. There's so many great ideas waiting to be made into comics.

You guys should give MacGuyver his own comic where he teaches super-heroes the tricks of the trade.
"Listen up Batman, I'm only going to say this once! Wrap the tube socks around the pencil and then pour maple syrup on it. One wrong move and you'll blow us all to kingdom come! We'll blow harder than a hurricane blowing out it's birthday candles! Blow harder than that stupid Batman and Robin movie you made!"
"Alright! I get the point already!...Wait, you said put the pencil in the syrup right?"

How about the Dark Castle Films universe? (Consisting of House on Haunted Hill, 13 Ghosts, Ghost Ship, Gothika and House of Wax, so far.) Their oeuvre constitutes one of my favourite guilty pleasures - particularly House on Haunted Hill - and it'd be a kick to see it in comic form.

A Riddick comic sounds like a great idea, you know Vin would be into it.
I'd like to see the Bubba Ho-Tep character continue (here we go with another Bruce Campbell movie) and a Brisco comic would be cool too.

I was thinking about this last night, and I'm a big fan of old time radio (on the old iPod of course) and a comic of the classic radio show "The Shadow" would be at the tops of my list. In my opinion it's such a cool concept and great character that it could be kept in the old days or brought to the modern age without any problems.

Yeah, the Shadow could be good. Alot of those great old characters don't get enough recognition and respect these days. The Shadow is a good example, along with The Phantom (though I believe he has a current comic series), The Green Hornet, and I would have said The Lone Ranger until DE's series came out. From what I was able to deduce, the Shadow has had many short-lived comic runs over the years, with the longest consecutive run lasting 12 issues. He seems to be a character that hasn't really translated well into visual media (how many people remember the Alec Baldwin movie? - not dissing it, I liked it - just saying it didn't do very well), and it's too bad because it's a great character.

I only saw The Shadow character a few times (toys, movie, artwork) and all I could think of was Batman crossed with Lone Ranger :p
KenaiMike
11-17-2006, 07:39 PM
Yeah,
The Shadow has a long history though and between the long runs of the radio show and print stories there is a lot of material. The Shadow is Lamont Cranston (sp) who is a rich guy and amature detective who spends his free time fighting crime. Yeah, I guess it's easy to see the similarity with Batman. The Shadow's big gig on the radio series was turning invisible (through hypnotism) so that the baddies couldn't see him. Although I haven't read any of the print stories I think that he carried pistols as seen in the Alec Baldwin movie (at least I think he did, I liked the movie but haven't seen it in years). Delving into his background and training to become The Shadow would be an interesting story all on it's own. Hey DE, how about a mini-series to test the waters?
I agree with MadMikeyD about the old characters. They seem to get half-a**ed attempts to revive them every few years but if someone did it right they could be big again. I came across some other comics company (can't recall the name right now) that was doing comics based on some of the old radio shows like Boston Blackie and what not. Haven't checked any of them out though.

...other Shadow fans ot there. The longest and best comics run for the character is The Shadow Strikes by DC from around 1989 it ran for about 3 years. The first story arc kicks butt. Other highlights of the series are the Doc Savage cross-over and the re-intro of Shiwan Khan. As for the pulp Shadow he makes Batman look like a wimp (though in the 70's he did "team-up" with Batman I'm told his 2 appearances are really good considering in the first one he isn't shown only heard). A very different guy than the radio character and much harder edged than the Lone Ranger actually most of the pulp guys were more Bond or Punisher-like types. oh and I think its Moonstone comics that are doing some of the radio stuff and a mean Cisco Kid to boot.

Army of Darkness - check
Darkman - check
If Dynamite is working its way through Sam Raimi's back catalogue (love to see him guest write something in a Donner/Singer way) then I have another suggestion.
With the likes of Jonah Hex, Loveless and of course The Lone Ranger being popular.....how about The Quick & The Dead.
It's a great film, and there are plenty of colourful characters that could spin out into an ongoing or prequel. And it has Lance Henriksen in it who pushes Bruce Campbell in the coolness stakes.
Must go and add it to the...I'd like to write this one day list!
SpikeBad

Here's another thing to add to that list.
Xena - Check.
Sam Raimi Produced it. Dynamite appears to be doing everything that man touches. Too bad for them Marvel owns Spider-Man.
And I very much want to see a Jack of All Trades comic. That was also produced by Sam Raimi and it starred, you guessed it, Bruce Campbell. That would fit perfectly with what Dynamite produces. When it has a Bruce Campell character in it you can do no wrong. Groovy.

Good question. I believe that, in the US, the rule is basically that any work of fiction created prior to 1923 is fair game (though there's been some controversy about this vis-a-vis HP Lovecraft's work - although it's worth remembering that HPL himself actively encouraged others to do whatever they liked with his Mythos, stating that it would lend it "verisimilitude". Dude would've been all over the fanfic community had he been alive today).
Interestingly, though, there is one public domain superheroine - Octobriana (http://www.alchemytexts.com/Oct/Oct.html), a kind of immortal Communist Wonder Woman, supposedly created by a bunch of students behind the Iron Curtain in the Sixties. I think it'd be a blast to see her show up in Red Sonja or Highlander or some such - and it wouldn't cost you a dime, DE!

Good ol' Autolycus...a finer man in green never did walk the earth :]
That reminds me, who made the decision to make his shirt red in the new Xena comic? Autolycus is supposed to have a green shirt! That, and Xena's super chakram with Gabby with long hair, better be explained in the future.
But alas I forget, Xena has no linear time. At least according to the disclaimer in the credits for the episode You Are There in season 6. You got to love those disclaimers.
I agree with some of the ideas listed previously by others, Brisco County, V. Maybe a Back to the Future story or two (part of the profits could be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for fighting Parkinson's Disease).
Another good idea for DE, I think, would be to produce mini-series licensed from whatever new DVD set is coming out at a given time. For example, when the Surface complete series set came out late last year, DE could have produced a mini-series that "concluded" the unfinished storyline.
I would also like to see some more unorthodox types of licenses pursued. Stories of The Man With No Name from the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns; a continuation of the old Saturday morning series, Land of the Lost (see my website, Tyrannosaurus lex (http://personal.linkline.com/enik1138/)).
Also, how about Snake Plissken? And a series set in the universe of Babylon 5?

How about a Weird Science comic? Based on the TV Series exploits, not directly the movie. Maybe that is a license Dynamite could pick up?
I also agree with The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. or Re-Animator.

somebody here mentioned "V" and that would be an awesome sci-fi companion to the BattleStar Galactica series. I heard they are making a new "V" mini series and a comic would be a great Dynamite title.
I'd also like to see these licenses under the Dynamite banner these:
Robocop
The Transporter
Kill Bill
Alias
James Bond
Indiana Jones
Lost
Heroes
Tron
Labyrinth
Dark Crystal
Gremlins
Goonies
A "Willow" movie ongoing comic would be awesome too. An adaptation of the George Lucas Sequel novels to Willow that were released and written by Chris Claremont. These are very dark sequels and they were planned as movies but Lucas has been busy with the Star Wars prequels and now Indy 4. They were called Shadow Moon, Shadow Dawn and Shadow Star. There aren't any "Lord of the Rings" style comics out there and "Willow" is a great untapped universe to turn into comic form.
