O.K., so far we have seen allot of Golden Age Public Domain Heroes & Villains make a Great come back in Project Superpowers and it's spin-offs, but what other heroes & villains do you guys like to see show up in the series?

Now me, I would like to see the following heroes & villains show up in the series:

Lady Luck
http://pdsh.wikia.com/wiki/Lady_Luck

Rubberman
http://pdsh.wikia.com/wiki/Rubberman

Iron Ace
http://pdsh.wikia.com/wiki/Iron_Ace

Atomic Thunderbolt

Green Turtle and Burma Boy

Mr. Monster

Shinto Samurai

Stardust
http://pdsh.wikia.com/wiki/Stardust

Magician From Mars
http://pdsh.wikia.com/wiki/Magician_From_Mars

Iron Jaw
http://pdsh.wikia.com/wiki/Iron_Jaw

Captain Nippo

And I do realize that most of the heroes & villains on my list are either from space or other countries, and I think it would be cool to see how they would turn out in the world of Project Superpowers.

Airman, Neon the Unknown (always loved that name), the Shark and the Eye.

More female heroes: Miss Victory, Phantom Lady, Black Cat [Harvey], Black Venus

Other Male Heroes: The Shield, Mr Justice, The Comet, Doll Man, Black Condor, Captain Triumph, Atoman, Masked Marvel, Fly Man [Harvey], Airboy

Villains: The Great Question, Madam Satan, Lady Serpent

Unfortunately, with GA villains, most of them only appeared once, which means there's probably a lot of good villains I simply haven't run across yet.

I don't believe that the Shield, Mr Justice and the Comet are in the public domain, having seen publication by MLJ/Archie in the 1940's, 1960's, 1980's and 2000's, let alone DC recently licensing the properties.

If MLJ did not renew the character's first appearance then the original versions of the characters would be public domain, but not any subsequent versions. for example Pep comics which includes the Shield's first appearance was not renewed up until issue 72. Shield appeared in issue one making him in the public domain. This site lists renewals http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/cce/firstperiod.html.

As for what heroes/villains I would like to see in the series include Captain Red Blazer who was featured in the American Spirit sketch with his sidekick Spark, but have yet to be featured elsewhere. Also I would love to see Atoman, Thor (the Fox version), and any hero from Fawcett, Quality, MLJ, and Charlton characters who are in the public domain.

Actually, leonmallett, most if not all of the Golden Age heroes from MLJ [which eventually became Archie Comics] are in the Public Domain, although there seems to be people out there who enjoy perpetuating the myth that Archie Comics owns the characters lock, stock and barrel. The only thing Archie owns is the stories & characters created after the Golden Age, plus any Trademarks they keep current [for example: "The Shield"]. I've come to the conclusion that the only reason DC licenses the characters is so that they have access to The Fly and other Copyrighted characters Archie does actually own.

Actually you are mistaken, at least on some points.

According to the indicia on the 2003 TPB collection featuring the Mighty Crusaders the names and likenesses of the characters contained therein are trademarked by Archie. Now since those trademarks cover the imagery and names (as well as the stories of course), then I struggle to see that anyone could simply publish their own versions of the characters with those likenesses. Now I know trademarking differs from copyright, but it is a point of note.

Now we may be talking about the stories (from the period in question) being in the public domain, but not the characters since there would be an infringement of trademark potentially.

DC have not licensed the Fly/Fly-Man since ownership of his rights has reverted to Joe Simon for whatever reasons. Archie do not own the Fly rights, hence the Fly will not form part of the Red Circle (nor will Lancelot Strong for the same reasons). A similar thing happened with Pat Morisi's Peter Cannon, Thunderbolt, who you may notice has not been seen at DC in a long time.

We could argue back-and-forth and nit-pick statements all day long, but I'm not in the mood to do that kind of thing.

The MLJ characters are Public Domain ... it's a fact.

Agreed on the back and forth, and not wanting to get into that either (so sorry if it seemed I was), but to state 'facts' without supporting evidence is not really to be stating 'facts' at all.

Last night I was reading the Black Terror reprint special that AC Comics put out last year and I'd like to see Lady Serpent sprung from the urn. She needs more snakes though....xtra big ass King Kong sized snakes.

Captain Red Blazer and Spark actually appear in the American Spirit fighting Yank journal entry along with several other patriots. But I agree it would be awesome if they were featured in story.
